Dampfbier (“Steam Bier”) is a centuries old amber ale style historically originating from the Black Forest area of Bavaria. Notes of fruity banana combine with malty, nutty characters. This style beer is now very rarely brewed in Germany and considered a world oddity -almost virtually extinct from production. It’s name origin is not perfectly clear, but much considered to be named after the warm temperatures in active fermentation triggering a bubbly appearance of steam. We revitalize this rare style of beer. Our Dampfbier is proudly made here in the Hudson Valley, NY. We have recreated the style using traditional concepts.
